Jota is reportedly set for an extended period on the sidelines, with the Portuguese winger expected to miss several months due to the knee injury he suffered against Dundee United on Saturday afternoon, as the Hoops wrapped up their 55th league title with a 5-0 win.

The Sun report that Celtic are expecting confirmation today that Jota’s season is over, raising questions about whether he will be fit for the start of next season or, even more concerning, the Champions League qualifying playoffs in late August.

Brendan Rodgers confirmed that Jota felt discomfort in his knee during the first half, which led to his substitution as a precaution. The Celtic medical team is currently assessing whether his meniscus is the source of the pain, and a brace has been applied for protection.

The situation will be closely monitored, with reports suggesting that today is when the Hoops are expected to find out more.

It will be an anxious wait for Celtic and supporters to find out how long Jota will be out for. Hopefully, the Hoops will have enough to get by without him against Rangers on Sunday at Ibrox, as well as in the remaining five games of the season, including the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen next month.

It was certainly a sad sight seeing Jota limping off in the first half, despite playing a crucial role in Ryan Strain’s own goal to open the scoring on Saturday.

At full time, Jota was seen on crutches as Celtic celebrated their league title win, clearly in pain.

  1. Our best number 7 since Larsson. Tell Jota. He’s to be wrapped up in cotton wool, after a few pints in the Brazen. He’s to get ready for the Champions League Qualifier and pre-season 2025/26.

God bless Jota on the wing! Hail. Hail!
