Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is set to face a defensive injury dilemma, with the Belgian set to decide between either Kim Min-Jae or Dayot Upamecano to start the game tomorrow night.

Bayern & Germany report that both players are struggling with injuries, with Kim dealing with Achilles tendon issues that forced him to miss Sunday’s training due to severe pain, while Upamecano is said to be managing back and pelvic discomfort.

This means that either Josip Stanišić or Eric Dier will likely start at the heart of defence, which can only be seen as a boost for Celtic.

Addressing the defensive injury crisis, Kompany said: (Bayern & Germany), “All the players are playing a lot of games, in all positions, not just at centre-back.

“So, we always wanted a squad available to us where we could make changes. We’ve always done that and not made a big issue of it.”

Bayern are clearly not at full strength, with Daizen Maeda set to start the game after his two-game ban was successfully appealed down to one.

Celtic will have a blistering front four to choose from to start the game, with either Jota or Adam Idah likely to be benched, showing the depth the Hoops will have off the bench in the second half if needed.

With Bayern the favourites going into the game, injuries at the heart of defence are the last thing Kompany will want to deal with. Having played as a centre-back, the Belgian knows exactly how injuries can impact a team and tomorrow night will be no different.
