We reported on Nir Bitton’s strange Celtic post on Saturday evening, the player taking to the Celtic Park pitch with his family two games before the season is finished.

It led us to believe this wasn’t simply a player celebrating Celtic’s impending title victory but someone who knows their time at Celtic might be coming to and end. [Read Here]

Israeli publication Sports5 have added to that speculation by confirming the player is likely to leave Celtic this summer with a return to his home country most certainly on the cards.

Nir Bitton’s wife also revealed on Saturday they have another baby on the way, which might just have something to do with the midfielder’s plans to return home.

Bitton has been at the club for around ten years and would be due a testimonial next season if he stayed. The Israeli is a squad player for Ange Postecoglou and is called upon when needed, mostly from the bench.

Celtic will be heading into the summer looking to recruit some major talent in an attempt to be competitive in Europe. There will likely be a few outgoings in the process and right now, we really won’t be surprised if Nir is one of them.

  1. Pity..unlikely to find a similar player who can come off bench and control play in midfield or slot into defence and play ball out from back. Add to that experience.
