We’ve known for some time now Celtic have been keeping an eye on Daizen Maeda.

Ange Postecoglou worked with the striker at his former club Yokohama Marinos and could now look to bring the prolific frontman to Glasgow.

Signing a player who knows exactly how Ange wants his teams to play would be invaluable going into the new year.

Maeda could be the perfect player to help Kyogo and co push for silverware this season.

Record Sport claim Marino’s are only looking for around £3m for the Japanese star – at that price – Celtic would be crazy not to get a deal done.

The player has scored 22 times and assisting in 3 in only 35 league games.

Celtic lack depth in the striking area. Giakoumakis is struggling to stay fit so far and Ajeti has proven he’s not up to it. It’s imperative we can bring in another striker who can be a better option on the bench or even start games to rest Kyogo.

Celtic are already on the brink of signing Reo Hatate from Kowasaki Frontale according to the same report from the Daily Record. The left back who can also play centre mid is in advanced talks over a move to Glasgow.

Some more top J-League talent coming to the club on Ange’s recommendation can’t be a bad think.
