Ryan Christie’s Celtic deal ends in December of this year, the Celtic midfielder signed an unconventional contract that would see his deal come up in December rather than the summer.

Fans have always been aware of Ryan’s desire to play outside Scotland before his career is all said and done.

This summer, we will likely see a move take place and the player will officially end his time at Parkhead.

The Scotsman has claimed a deal to take Ryan away from the club came up back in January of 2020. The paper reveals there was interest in Ryan Christie in the 2020 January window from a German club. The interest from Germany was solid enough to see a bid made for Ryan’s services.

The paper writes: “Christie’s cause probably hasn’t been helped by the awareness that he would embrace a new challenge. It is believed that Celtic rejected an offer for him in January last year from a German suitor that held great appeal to him.”

Ryan was held in much better standing by the support 16 months ago and Neil Lennon was also keen to keep the former ICT player in Glasgow.

The player’s ambitions are away from Celtic and if the report from the Scotsman is to be believed, he would have happily left a long time ago.

We’re likely to get a nominal fee for Ryan now that his deal is set to expire.

  1. Good ridence, he contributed nothing team wise, he was playing for himself and is vastly overrated and will be found out in a better league.
