Dinamo Zagreb are set to ramp up their efforts to permanently sign Greg Taylor this month, according to a report in Croatia.

It comes after the left-back was, according to Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, disrespected by his own fans in yesterday’s 3-0 win over St. Mirren.

The Parkhead faithful could be heard chanting Kieran Tierney’s name towards the end of the match, which Rodgers viewed as wrong.

Taylor played the full 90 minutes and went straight up the tunnel at full time for reasons that remain unknown.

His contract situation is uncertain. Contrasting reports emerged over the weekend. On Saturday, he reportedly wanted to leave Celtic but by Sunday morning, it was said his desire was to stay.

Today, Croatian outlet Sportske Novoski (via RecordSport) report that Dinamo Zagreb, who were initially linked with Taylor last week, are preparing a ‘logical’ offer for the defender to try and bring him to the club this month: they plan to ‘enquire about a possible price’ for his services.

Across five and a half years at Celtic, the 27-year-old has made 198 appearances, scoring nine goals and setting up 30. He has won nine trophies along the way and could get another two under his belt should he stay until the end of the season.

Whether he, like his manager, views the recent Tierney chants as disrespectful remains to be seen

  1. How long now has this contract saga regarding Taylor been going on for now?
Yet we are no clearer upon what Taylor actual intentions are?
What we do know is plenty of improved contracts have been offered and completed by current players since Rodgers returned?
So not buying into this nonsense from Rodgers that he doesn’t know what is going on regarding the situation?
Part of his job is to know as a manager, especially with the transfer window open now?
This will be Taylor biggest contract on offer for himself, and wouldn’t be of any secret within the footballing world either?
So of course Taylor is expected to look for the best deal available for himself?
Yet that doesn’t answer why Rodgers wasn’t making much noise about the situation last season, when the Taylor contract situation was still in operation?
If Taylor has decided he wants to move on, then fair enough, and should be thanked for the service he has provided for ourselves within our success?
So a mountain out of a molehill has been made out of a situation, that’s been in operation all season, and now somehow our supporters are trying to get the blame now?
Maybe if the situation was made clearer, then such a situation wouldn’t have arisen in the first instance imo?
