As we approach the January Transfer Window, the rumour mill or transfers will continue to heat up as Ange Postecoglou looks to add to his Celtic squad.

The 56-year old hasn’t hidden his desire to bring in more players to add much-needed depth for the second half of the season.

In recent weeks, two of the prominent rumours have surrounded the possible signings for Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate from the Japanese League.

Of course, Ange is very familiar to the J-League from his time there as coach of Yokohama F. Marinos, where Maeda currently still plays his football. We have already seen the former Socceroos boss use his contacts to sign Kyogo Furuhashi.

In the early hours of this morning, those two players went head-to-head as the season in Japan came to a close.

Both Maeda and Hatate (playing for Kawasaki) started in a  1-1 draw.

Maeda was also on the scoresheet for Marinos, who finished the season 15 points behind the opposition they faced this afternoon.

All going well, this could bring the two players time to an end in Japan, with a move to Glasgow now on the horizon.

We will see what the next few weeks bring as we begin to slowly approach the January transfer window.
