A well placed Hammers account and popular West Ham way podcast report that the deal for Ajeti to Celtic is dead after the player turned down the opportunity to move to Celtic on loan.

They commented:

“West Ham & Celtic had discussed a loan move for Albian Ajeti that included a short obligation to buy clause.

“Since then, Ajeti himself has now turned down the move as he believes he can find a better deal elsewhere.”

The clubs had agreed on a deal which would take the Swiss striker to Scotland for next season and they had even settled on future option to buy price. It looked like Ajeti would head to Glasgow at the same time as goalkeeper Vasilios Barkas but it tuned out not to be the case.

The player’s Instagram showed himself back in his home country, holidaying with family and friends on Tuesday. Since then, we’ve heard the player was mulling over his next move but according to the West Ham podcast, the deal is off.

If the deal doesn’t go through there will be no official communication from Celtic, they don’t comment on deals that don’t get over the line. There was enough people around this deal that it was leaked to the media.

Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph doesn’t put the deal down is dead but has acknowledged the player wanted more time to decide his future.
