Celtic are reportedly looking to make a move for Algerian deep-lying midfielder, Haris Belkebla, who currently plays for Brest in the French Ligue 1.

Belkebla is also thought to be intrigued by the move to the Scottish Champions, ahead of several different clubs, including our rivals across the city, according to La Buteur.

The Algerian has had a particularly good season for Brest and is interested in testing himself outside of France, with Celtic being a possible option for him.

Brest sporting director, Gregory Lorenzi, has stated that he is determined to keep the player at the club, but if another club was to come calling there would likely be no stopping him.

The 26-year-old has also recently begun to break into the Algerian National Side, which looks to be on the rise, filled with talents who play across the globe such as Riyad Mahrez. Said Benrahma and Youcef Atal.

A club like Celtic could be the perfect move for him, with the chance to play for a team who have the pressures of winning every week and winning trophies, whilst also offering the chance of European Football.

It is encouraging that players are taking an interest, by seeing what the club can do when it comes to developing talent.

Our View

I do, however, see this move being a little unlikely with Celtic having players such as Scott Brown and Ismaila Soro at the club who play on a similar area of the pitch, with other positions also being a priority at the moment.
