It’s being reported Premier League side Aston Villa are ready to test Celtic’s transfer resolve when it comes to their star striker.

Villa, who just beat the drop in the top flight last season are looking to add some quality to their squad, according to SunSport, Edouard is high up their list of candidates for a striker.

The report claims a £30m bid could be incoming for the Frenchman.

Our View

We very much doubt Aston Villa would hit Celtic with an opening offer like that and even if they did, Celtic have been shutting down any interest in their striker since the transfer window opened.

Eddy wouldn’t be suited to an Aston Villa team who are always on the back foot in games. Celtic do have intentions to keep the striker this window but you can never say never.

Celtic’s record with top players continues to grow, with Kieran Tierney going to Arsenal and excelling, there’s less need for Edouard to head to a club like Villa as a stepping stone to a trophy chasing side down south.

Aston Villa obviously have the cash to spend and could facilitate the Celtic striker’s financial needs, but would the Birminghan club match his onfield ambitions?
