Celtic’s head of recruitment Gary Penrice was last week spotted at Bristol City’s stadium watching their match against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

According to Bristol Post, it is not clear who Penrice, formally a player of the Championship club, was there to watch but it is thought that it could potentially be Swedish winger Niclas Eliasson.

It has been reported that Celtic tried and failed to sign the 24-year old in January but failed and could have sent Penrice to watch him once more before going back in with another offer in an attempt to sign him.

Currently, the winger only has one-year left on his contract and it doesn’t look as though he is any closer to agreeing a new one so the Robins have a choice to make, whether to sell now or take the risk of him signing a pre-contract with a new club in January.

There is a chance that Penrice was possibly there just to watch his former side but with Celtic’s supposed interest in the past, you do begin to think there must be something in this that could see the Scottish Champions making a move.

  1. A winger who can play left wingback would be wonderful right about now. Or a player who’s comfortable playing either or both. Or a striker who can play Sweeper/Centre back role, ever better.
