Neil Lennon is looking to reshape his side this summer with some new faces and many players have already headed out the door.

One man who still has his future up in the air is Nir Bitton.

The Israeli is entering the final year of his deal which means Celtic could feel compelled to sell the midfielder this summer to get some sort of fee for the player.

However, according to Football insider who claim to have spoken to a source within Celtic Park – the new Celtic manager wants to keep Nir at the club beyond this summer and simply let him run his contract out at this point.

The report claimed: “A Celtic source has told Football Insider the club hierarchy discussed the possibility of terminating Bitton’s deal and paying him off but Lennon wants him to see out the final year of his contract.”

This could mean one of two things; Neil just wants him as cover for the rest of his contract before releasing him or the Irishman will run the rule over his influence in the next campaign before deciding on a new deal or not.

Nir was out for almost a year with a horrible injury, the midfielder only making it back into the side February this year but has played little part in proceedings when the squad is fully fit.

If a bid came in for him, he could very well still be off!
