CELTIC have reportedly rejected a £13.5m bid for one of their star players it has emerged as the transfer window hots up.

AC Milan have been linked with a move for Kristoffer Ajer for a few months at this point. It has now seemingly got to the point where a bid has been made for the defender with Celtic throwing it out according to GlasgowLive.

It’s widely accepted in Celtic circles that Ajer could go this summer if his valuation is met but that appears to be in the £20m+ range. The Norwegian has two-years left on his current Celtic deal so if he has no plans to sign a new contract with the club then this is the time to get the most for the player.

Ajer’s ascent to the first team wasn’t instant when he made the move to the club back when he was 17. He had to pay his dues and a loan move to Kilmarnock also got him ready for the rigours of Scottish football. In the past 18-months he solidified himself as a mainstay in the Celtic defence, but he still has a bit to go before he can be considered a very top defender.

If Celtic can get £20m plus for the defender, Celtic will likely take the money and from there, you can only hope they reinvest some of it back into the squad.

The flip side of this is Celtic convincing Ajer to sign a new deal and maybe sell him next summer.
