Celtic seem to have got their act together with regards to recruitment in the last four months since Nicky Hammond came into the club.

The scout made such an impression on his temporary contract, Hammond was offered a full-time deal with the Scottish Champions.

Hammond understands his remit at Celtic much more than his predecessor – it’s clear for all to see. Leaving no stone unturned as he looks for talent at affordable prices and finding young players the club can develop themselves.

With that in mind, it is being reported today that Celtic have been one of a number of clubs who have personally gone down to scout 17-year-old goalkeeper Joe Walsh according to the Evening Times.

The Gillingham goalkeeper signed his first professional deal in May with the club but has already attracted interest from a lot of big clubs. Hammond clearly looking well into the future by scouting the youngster.

Celtic have a lot of goalkeepers on their books at present but if the lad is a real talent it won’t stop the club from attempting to bring him in.
