Celtic are currently trimming the fat off their squad as they look to cut costs for the upcoming season. Fringe players who might have been allowed to linger around a little longer are being moved on and the club is preparing to take a financial hit when it comes to season tickets and gate receipts.

Football behind closed doors will come at a cost for every club up and down the land. Season ticket money, along with European gate receipts and matchday income will not be there as we know it.

This means if Celtic are looking to balance the books this year, at least one of our top assets would have to leave.

Odsonne Edouard is by far our most expensive asset BUT nobody wants to see him go from a football perspective.

That leaves one man who has already had his agent talk about a Parkhead exit – Kristoffer Ajer.

According to Football Insider, the club have now set a price for the Norwegian and won’t stand in his way should it be met.

The price being £20m with a likely sell-on clause.

Ajer has become a man at Celtic Park – coming in as a little known 17-year-old, he has put in the work and become a valuable player for the club.

Many believe he could stand to stay at Celtic for another season to develop but it appears Ajer would prefer a move. If Celtic can get £20m for Ajer and shield Edouard from a transfer away this summer – I think most Celtic fans would take it.

  1. Ajer isn’t worth £20 million. If someone wants to have him for this figure or upwards Celtic should snap it up. Don’t get me wrong he is a good young lad and Celtic are probably not playing him in his best position. I cringe every time he goes into a tackle in our own penalty area. There is no doubt he gives 100% commitment every game but still not worth £20 million or even half that.
If the lad wants to go elsewhere get as much as you can.
Still think it is a poor decision about Hayes. One of our better performers

  2. Dont think we need scare mongering expect that of media what is t financial wise Celtic will get buy but to say we need to sale our players ajri been pushing for move young player got his faults not happy sell him he look back and regret it most do
