Celtic could reportedly receive an injury blow, with Kyogo Furuhashi supposedly set for around a month on the sidelines due to injury.

According to Sun Sport, after picking up an injury on international duty with Japan in their fixture against China, the 26-year old could now miss up to seven games in the next month for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

This comes as a blow with the Japanese frontman making a blistering start to life at Parkhead, scoring seven goals in his first nine games for the Hoops, including two crucial strikes on the way to Europa League qualifying against AZ Alkmaar.

The report states that the injury won’t be long-term, but with Celtic’s busy fixture schedule, it could be up to seven games, with European ties against Bayern Leverkusen and Real Betis included.

Currently, that gives the club just two striking options to choose from – one being the newest recruit Georgios Giakoumakis and the other Albian Ajeti.

Both players we are yet to see what they are capable of, with the latter having spent the past year or so in Glasgow. So, this could be seen as a big chance for them to take their shot in the side.

These reports will likely be confirmed by the manager in his pre-match press conference later today. We will keep you updated with the latest news regarding any issues reported by the manager.

  1. Physiotherapy and jags before (and midway, during a match) are a horror story of the past. Let Kyogo rest, retain his fitness, get him back trained and ready to go. Gives everyone else a chance to show how good they really are. COYBIG ?? APFA ??
