Celtic have reportedly taken major steps into making their second signing of the summer transfer window with Airdrie winger Thomas Robert supposedly set to train with the club.

According to Sun Sport, the French youngster has been monitored by not only Celtic for a while but also English clubs before the shutdown of League 1 last month.

Robert has been the centre of a lot of fanfare with his father being former PSG, Benfica and Newcastle United winger Laurent Robert.

The 19-year old surprisingly rocked up in Airdrie last year signing a two-year deal with the League One club despite interest from a whole load of clubs including his Dad’s former side Newcastle and many clubs across Europe after turning down a contract at his boyhood club Montpellier.

Coming to Scotland reportedly left his dad delighted at his son’s ambition to get out and play football which is exactly what he would be doing for the Diamonds.

So far this season he has scored four goals in 15 appearances but has impressed with some of his performances. Clips have also made their way onto social media of his goals for Airdrieonians, scoring directly from a corner kick on one occasion.

When many heard Celtic were interested and watching the player, they didn’t think it will come to much. Now though it seems to be a lot closer than people imagined and soon we could see Robert officially signing for the club.

  1. Same auld Celtic huh. They have broken their own biscuit tin emptying record. For another youngster to go out on loan (Back to Airdrie no doubt) And he can continue with his European medal count and Scotland international caps. Or loaned then sold to Rusty Cunty or Montrose. Sheeeessssshhhhh. All because Dom and Dick said so.
Hope he is a good scrum half. As Scotland need more flankers too.

  2. Look we need ready made players that are a good fit and hit the ground running we now are playing catch up with buying young players to sell at a profit no time now spend the money give those players a good wage and lets go for this again and lets get back in CL groups or EL groups.

New manager now and let him keep what players he wants and kick out what players thinks are no good for us..but let us get this together before the end of this season..
