It looks like Celtic’s search for a right back could be over with unconfirmed reports this evening online that Huddersfield’s Tommy Smith has left the club’s training camp in Austria to go pursue a move Record Sport revealed.

With Celtic heavily linked with the player since the weekend it’s looking more and more likely that his next destination will be Glasgow.

Smith would come in and instantly be Celtic’s first choice right back with the club only being able to call upon Anthony Ralston at the minute. Neil Lennon played Ajer at right back against Sarajevo and didn’t even use the young right back.

Smith wouldn’t be able to be registered for the home leg against Sarajevo but would be available for the next round providing Neil Lennon bumps someone from the current Euro register.

Smith, 27, could be just what the team needs. If the deal is set to happen he could be in before Rennes come to town on Saturday.
