NEIL LENNON is said to be mulling over calling new signing Jonathan Afolabi into the first team with the player continually impressing in training according to The Scotsman.

Afolabi only signed with Celtic in the summer on the understanding he would start out with the developmental side but get a chance should he impress. It sounds like the Irishman is impressing already in training and played in a bounce game against Hibernian on Tuesday where a Celtic XI fought it out to a 1-1 finish.

The player came in from Southampton with noises from down south suggesting the player was still wanted at St Mary’s. However, Afolabi and his reps have most likely looked at Celtic’s track record recently of developing and selling on players and thought a move to Celtic Park would be a better option than staying at Southampton.

With Celtic fighting on so many fronts, it stands to reason the player might get a chance sooner rather than later. He’s young, strong and can play a number of attacking positions.

The attacker signed a three-year deal with the club this summer and spoke of his delight to the Irish Times.

“It’s been great so far. This is a big move for me and everything has been going well so far. The boys have been very welcoming, the fans have been great as well, and I’m delighted to be part of this family now. I can’t wait to drive forward from here.”

We could have a player on our hands.

  1. First things first here he signed a three-year deal now let us get him on a longer deal before we show the world what he can do add another 2 years and better pay…yes Celtic do a have track record of developing and selling on players first we need a longer deal to get a max amount cash for selling the player but we only sell our players only when they want to move on…
