After all of today’s speculation around Kevin Muscat and the possible appointment of him at the club as Ange Postecoglou’s assistant, the former Rangers defender reportedly won’t be making a move to Celtic.

According to the Glasgow Times, Muscat is not being lined up as an option on the former Australian international coaches backroom staff at the Hoops.

There were many conversations on social media today around whether fans would be happy or not with Muscat coming to the club in a coaching capacity.

However, it looks like that discussion has now been put to bed, and our focus on who will be part of the backroom staff goes elsewhere.

It will certainly be interesting to see who Postecoglou decides to bring to the club as his assistants whether he will be looking for someone he has trusted or someone with more experience in Scottish Football.

Fingers crossed, we can have the situation cleared up shortly, including whether or not the 55-year old will be the next permanent manager of Celtic.

  1. As long as his assistants aren’t EBT recipients or John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan I’ll be happy. Well, as happy as I can be at this appointment. I wasn’t sold on Howe but I’d rather have had him than the guy who once told Rogic to leave for the sake of his career – hypocrite much? Still, like all of us (I’m sure) I’ll get behind him when it comes to it.

I’ve got a little niggle of a feeling in the back of my brain that says he might end up surprising us all…but then I had a smimlar feeling about John Barnes when they announced him and boy howdy was I wrong about that one and then some!
