Scottish Championship side Kilmarnock are reportedly lining up a move for Celtic youngster Adam Montgomery as the left-back prepares to head out for regular game time in the second half of the season.

Towards the back end of last campaign, Montgomery broke into the side under then-interim boss John Kennedy, making his debut against St Johnstone in the penultimate game of 2020/21.

The 19-year old continued that momentum into this season, featuring heavily in the early stages of Ange Postecoglou’s reign, including several appearances in European competition.

With the return from injury for Greg Taylor and more game time for Liam Scales, the minutes on the field have become hard to come by for Montgomery, so the coaching staff have chosen to send the youngster out on loan.

According to Sun Sport, Scottish Championship side Kilmarnock are one of many clubs interested in taking Montgomery for the second half of the campaign and appear the closest side to agreeing a deal for the talented defender.

New boss Derek McInnes is looking to add to his squad for a promotion push, as the Rugby Park side attempt to bounce back to the Scottish Premiership at the first chance.

Montgomery would become the fifth player to sign on under McInnes this window, and it could be a valuable loan spell for him, gaining regular minutes in a first-team environment.
