Celtic have been given the price if they want to sign Vasilios Barkas from AEK Athens this summer.

The goalkeeper is on a list of candidates to replace Fraser Forster should the club not land the Englishman this summer. The Scottish champions are making sure they leave no stone unturned trying to find the best possible goalkeeper.

Athens have been contacted according to Mail Sport and they have told Peter Lawwell it will cost them €5m.

The Greek player has Champions League experience and could be valued upon to fill the void left by Fraser.

The same report claims Joe Hart and David Marshall are still on the list of possible targets.

Fraser is Neil Lennon’s number one choice, but right now, it looks unlikely the player will return.

Southampton are holding out for a large transfer fee which Celtic will not match. It could be a waiting game for Celtic. If they go that route, we’re a Scott Bain injury away from fielding a youth goalkeeper in Champions League qualifiers.

  1. should be a no brainer, why would Fraser turn down the chance of Champions League football to return to at best mid-table mediocrity, if he’s available at a reasonable price, it should be a done deal
