Long term injured Celtic star Nir Bitton admitted he could cry upon his full return to the Celtic team as his injury hell looks to be coming to an end.

The Israel midfielder has been out since February this year with a knee injury and had a few step backs on his road back to full fitness.

Undertaking intense rehab since his operation – the Celtic utility man is hoping to make his mark on the first team all over again before the end of this season

“I can’t describe it in words.” Bitton told Celtic TV.

“I think the first game I’ll be in the squad I’ll possibly be crying in my room.

“It’s been a tough time for me.

“When you are out for nine or 10 months, and your knee doesn’t feel right the first few months, you start doubting yourself. You say ‘will I be fit again?’ or ‘Can I get form again?”

Nir has only 18-months left on his current Celtic deal, so he will be aware he needs to step up when he’s fit to get back into this high flying squad.

Before his injury, Nir was covering midfielder and defence when injuries occurred and was happy to do so in order to help the team move forward.

Hopefully the player’s return will feel like a new signing when he gets his chance.
