Revealed: Joe Hart Made Celtic Transfer Call on Deadline Day

Cameron Carter-Vickers has signed up with Celtic for the season but could extend his stay permanently if things go well in the next 12 months.

The American international defender looked like he would be staying at Tottenham as the deadline clock ticked down to midnight. Celtic tried earlier in the window to try and sign the player but were rebuffed by Spurs, the Hoops then went back on deadline day in the morning and were again told no by the London club.

It wasn’t until around two hours before the deadline that Spurs decided to let the centre-back head out on loan and contacted Celtic about a deal.

Carter-Vickers revealed he was at his home in London and had to quickly get to the Spurs training ground in order to sign the paperwork. It was touch and go but the deal was done in time and Cameron became a Hoops player.

Speaking to Celtic TV after Tuesday’s whirlwind, the defender spoke about his delight at the opportunity he has at Celtic and how Joe Hart spoke to him as he was getting set to sign. Joe has just recently left Tottenham for Celtic.

“It was all fairly quick, yeah, it was quick.

“100 per cent (it was nervous). I was relaxing at home, not really knowing what was going to happen.

“I got the call and had to rush to Tottenham’s training ground to get it all signed off.

“As soon as I heard Celtic it was something I wanted to do. It’s a massive club with a massive fanbase.

“And there’s obviously European football as well, it should be good.”

Asked what his goals are for the season, Cameron made it clear:

“I’m here to win. I’ve come here and I know the expectation is to win every game so that’s what I’ll try and help the team do.

“I spoke to Joe Hart before I came up and he said the atmosphere’s unbelievable.

“He said it’s one of the best atmospheres he’s ever seen, so I’m definitely looking forward to it.”

The defender hasn’t played much football recently, it will be interesting to see how and when Cameron is introduced to the first team.
