BEFORE Scott Bain came to Celtic, the goalie was playing under Neil McCann at Dundee. It’s been common knowledge for some time the pair ended up falling out and Bain was subsequently sent out on loan to Celtic via Hibs in a dramatic deadline day transfer.

McCann was out of his depth as a manager and Dundee were struggling at the time.

Paul McGowan was speaking to Simon Ferry on the OpenGoal podcast and divulged information about the bust up which eventually meant Bain would be come a Celtic player.

“Do you know how he fell out with Dundee?” Simon Ferry asked McGowan.

“We were playing a game. McCann always wanted to pass it from the back.

“One got cut out and he shouted over to McCann, ‘F’ off’.

“Neil McCann came in, he’s a hothead, and he said, ‘what did you say to me?’.

“We were getting beat 2-0, and Bainy was like that, ‘I told you to ‘F’ off’.

“Instead of just lying, knowing what Neil McCann ‘s like…

“McCann was like, ‘you wit?’ and Bainy said, ‘I told you to ‘F’ off’.

“We were all just sitting and McCann was like, ‘you told me to ‘F-ing’ ‘F’ off?’. He was right in his face.

“Bainy was just sitting there like, ‘aye’. He didn’t care.”

“I’m thinking, ‘F’ me!’

“McCann asked for the sub goalie to go and warm up but he never put him on. After that it was just a mess.

“He left him out but it’s actually probably been the best thing that’s ever happened to Bainy in all honesty.”

Bain would join Neil Lennon at Hibernian that January but it would be on the final day of the window when Brendan Rodgers would sign Bain on loan for the rest of the season.

Scott would then get himself a permanent deal with the Scottish Champions and although he’s not number one right now, the player signed a new deal back in October to extend his stay at the club to 2023 (Celticfc.net).

I don’t think Bain is on McCann’s Christmas list

  1. McCann couldn’t manage a sausage roll. Managing a team is about man-management. Working with people and getting the best out of them. You saw McCann when Dundee played St Johnstone. He had a bust-up with Zander Clark of the Saints.
McCann is a wee ned, knows nothing about working with people. He’s a self-centered wee nyaff.
His aim in life is to be a mouthpiece for Ra gers. On that score, he’s just a wee gob-sh1te.
