SCOTT BROWN was in top form on Thursday night as he sat down for a special Q&A with 3,000 Celtic supporters in attendance. The Celtic captain spoke about his career, the forks in the road and what Celtic means to him 12 years later.

However, it could all have been so different. When leaving Hibernian all those years ago, the Celtic captain had three options.

Sign for Celtic, Rangers or Middlesbrough.

It’s all history now but at the time there was a real deal to take Scott Brown to Ibrox where he would’ve linked up with his Hibs pal Kevin Thomson.

In the end – Scott made the right choice and not many will argue that point nowadays!

With one of our writers in attendance, the Celtic captain described the stark difference between the two Glasgow clubs trying to sign him.

“I go down to London, I meet Gordon, I meet Peter and we have a chat. I go to Dermot’s house, he has maids! I’m thinking this is good”

“The fee had been agreed to go to Rangers, Celtic or Middlesbrough at the time

“I Spoke to Gordon, he wanted to build the team around me, Peter Lawwell was phenomenal”

A young Broony obviously impressed with Celtic giving him the five-star treatment at the time. The midfielder went on to reveal his Rangers signing talks.

“Then I get a text to go meet Rangers, so I met Rangers – in a car park!”

He then jokingly quipped “That’s why I signed for Celtic”

Some things will never change!
