A very reliable source has revealed Celtic have clinched their fifth signing of the January window by completing a deal for Riley McGree from US side Charlotte.

The Australian midfielder has agreed to join Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic revolution subject to international clearance and joins the Japanese trio and Johnny Kenny who have also joined Celtic this month.

We’re waiting on confirmation from the club itself but journalist Scott Burns [Record Sport] is usually spot on with Celtic transfer news and he’s speaking in definite terms.

McGree spent the last 15 months on loan to Birmingham City where he became a fan favourite. The Brum fans were sad to see the 23-year-old go at the end of last year and were hoping he would stick around.

Their loss is Celtic’s gain as the Australian gets set to check in at Paradise!

Check out our report card for Riley below.

Celtic have been very active in this transfer window and Celtic fans are loving it.

It’s really not what we’re used to seeing. We see deals drag on and go down to the wire usually. This is assertive and positive business.

  1. This is precisely the kind of decisive transfer business we’ve been asking for, for such a long time. Even if they don’t all work (and i suspect they will) Ange and the recruiting team deserve great credit for getting their men with minimum fuss.
They will live or die by their considered choices, and that’s what top managers do best. Well done all at Celtic. I genuinely believe (not just hope) that we are are moving into a new, different, more exciting and successful era of our history.

  2. It is about time that they got their fingers out, I have been watching celtic for 75 years the new manager reminds of jock stein he knows a player ? when he sees one tony
