Robbie Keane has finally responded to the chat linking him with the Celtic job, and he’s kept it straight.
Celtic are looking everywhere for their next boss, and Keane’s good work in Hungary naturally puts him on a few lists. Even then, he’s ignored the noise and stayed fixed on the title fight he’s leading.
Fans have been split on the idea, and Celtic haven’t made any concrete move toward him. Keane hasn’t shown the slightest interest in getting involved while he’s pushing for trophies in Budapest.
He said: (RecordSport), “As a player, they wrote that I would sign here or there, but it’s the same – there is nothing you can do about that, I am only and exclusively focused on my work here.”
Keane’s stance leaves little room for interpretation. He’s seen enough transfer and managerial rumours in his career to know when to shut the door early, and this was one of those moments.
It’s also a reminder that Ferencváros are in a strong position domestically, and walking away mid-season isn’t something he seems remotely interested in. Celtic may admire him, but timing matters.

The search at Parkhead will roll on, and Keane’s clarity probably helps both sides. Celtic need someone ready to jump in immediately, while Keane is committed to finishing what he’s started in Budapest.
For now, his message is simple and firm. He’s staying put, he’s focused, and any talk of Celtic can wait for another day.
