Both Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage took part in BBC’s 606 live show today along with Alistair Bruce-Ball to discuss when it is safe for football to return and what should happen with the remainder of the SPFL season.
While Chris Sutton went on his usual all-out truth attack, Savage was reluctant to get into it. The Welshman has spent the last few seasons failing miserably to wind the ex-Celt up by picking up for Sutton’s old Glasgow foes. But even Savage can’t defend what was left in the SPFL after 30 games had been played and the champions held a 13 point lead over second place.
Sutton, on the other hand, gave Savage very little room for a comeback with the following remarks:
“They’ve had this dossier of evidence for weeks, well get it out. What is happening is Rangers are trying to deflect, they have been woeful since the turn of the year.”
“Statements galore, the last however long, Rangers are unhappy with the SPFL, they say they have this dossier of evidence. The wheels are off, they’re trying to get everybody else to look the other way, Celtic are the dominant team, they’ll carry on being the dominant team. The wheels are off at Ibrox and they are trying to deflect.”
“C’mon, let’s say it as is it is.”
Robbie wanted now part of the debate and quickly changed the subject. In fairness, how could anyone come back from that with any credible argument?
Neil Doncaster also came out swinging the bat today in an interview he did with Scotland’s Sportsound earlier on. Everyone wants closure but it looks increasingly unlikely that it will happen any day soon.
