BRENDAN RODGERS has empathised with Neil Lennon about the standard of refereeing which seen the Irishman blow his lid at the weekend.

Kevin Clancy awarded Kilmarnock a very soft penalty against his side and it sent the former Celtic boss over the edge after receiving more ridiculous decision from the same referee earlier in the season.

Speaking about the incident – Rodgers certainly feels for his pal Neil.

“I have seen a lot of strange decisions. The guys are doing the very best they can, but some of it I can totally understand where Neil would come from.”

Asking about Lennon’s touchline outburst, the Celtic manager put that down to emotions running high and incidents piling up against the Hibs gaffer.

“It was something that is in the heat of the moment. He has obviously seen something clearly and for Neil it has probably been tagged on to one or two other incidents that has cost his team.”

  1. It has nothing to do with the Celtic manager but the press work the way the press work , asking him a question that is really not his business but he’s too polite to tell them that so ofcourse has to make a comment of some kind and before we know it’s a story out of nothing, mischief making as usual from the gutterpress
