BRENDAN RODGERS last night hit back at BBC’s Jonathan Sutherland who put the most almighty negative spin on Celtic’s heroic victory at Celtic Park.

Minutes after Celtic had secured an important win against German side flying high in the Bundesliga, instead of congratulating the team and the boss – Sutherland went a different route.

The BBC man pointed out that Celtic’s head to head with Leipzig was not good and the bhoys would now need to get more points on the board so it doesn’t come down to that.

Rodgers hit back on BBC Sportsound: “Well typical Scottish, you always bring a negative onto a very positive night”

The BBC reporter replied: “It is true though”

With the Celtic manager retorting “The most important thing was to win and win well and I think that we did that. There are still a few games to go and like I said we will do our best.”

Had Celtic drawn or lost, there Euro fight would have been well and truly over, they now have a terrific chance to progress and a Scottish journalist comes away with something like that.

It was a bit ridiculous but expected from some of the media in this country.

Celtic are in a strong position going into their last two group games against Rosenborg and Salzburg.

If the bhoys can fix their away day woes then head to head may not need to come into it.
