Brendan Rodgers has given an update on Celtic’s semi-final heroes contract situation after Ryan Christie starred for the Hoops at Murrayfield.

Ryan, 23, came on as a second half sub and was sensational.

The player won a penalty, set up or scored the second depending where you’re sitting and certainly netted a sensational third.

Christie is coming into the last 6 months of his contract and is free to talk to other clubs in January.

There had been no signs until today that the player could make the breakthrough.

He’s now fired himself up the list of the Celtic board who will no doubt want to sign the midfielder to a new deal.

Rodgers is unsure of where talks are but has confirmed the club has been in dialogue with the player’s representatives.

“He is someone of course we would like to commit to. I think the club are talking to his representatives but I am not aware of any movement.”

“My focus is on making him better and hopefully then the other stuff would sort itself out.

“But yes, definitely a player we would love to keep. He is a fantastic player. He is 23, a really good age now to have the personality to play at a really big club.”
