BRENDAN RODGERS confirmed an inquest is underway at Celtic Park after a disastrous transfer window.
The Irishman was clear about the fact things didn’t go the club’s way even though it seemed pretty straightforward from his perspective.
The noise about recruitment problems have subsided quite considerably since Celtic’s 1-0 win against The Rangers in Sunday’s derby but the Celtic manager feels it necessary to find out what went wrong in the summer window and what the club can learn from it.
‘You have to review – it is important. I felt it was a straightforward window for us, and it was twofold – keep the players we wanted to keep, then add the quality into key areas of the field. I didn’t think we needed many.’ Said the Irishman.
‘But it’s never as straightforward as it should be sometimes.
‘It’s clear it hasn’t been an ideal window for us but we’ll look at the processes and everything else around it. We’ll review it all and try to ensure in the next window we can be better.’
‘It has been a busy period and we will assess it after this period is done,’ he added.
‘There are clearly things we can improve on and be better at. But, listen, this is management, it is not always smooth and everything going nice.’
The Celtic boss managed to keep Dedryck Boyata even though he was under intense pressure to sell from the player himself and then the fans.
Two deadline day signings to help the squad move forward this season in Mulumbu and Benkovic – however one was on a free and the other a loan deal.
With the sale of Moussa Dembele who pushed through a move to Lyon, it capped off a horrible summer for the club with regards to personnel.
The £20million Celtic received for the player must be used in January to bolster the squad.
In the interim, could any heads role after an inquest. Many have blamed Peter Lawwell for the window woes while others are pointing the finger at Lee Congerton – the head of recruitment for the lack of signings and overall quality.

There is no way BR will get £20 million in January, he will get £6 to 8 million max and that includes wages.
We can all clearly see the business model, as fans we want to see some decent cash spent. We will never spend that much in one transfer window.
The reality is if celtic had been in the predicament sevco are in we would be playing in the Glasgow Sunday league with no change ever getting promoted. So keeping that in mind our board are not going to squander any cash and will keep the cash for a rainy day
