BRENDAN RODGERS has confirmed Craig Gordon hasn’t made the Celtic squad today due to an injury he picked up against Leipzig.

The Scottish goalkeeper took a sore one in the first half when he came out for a low cross and was clattered by an onrushing Leipzig player.

Speaking to SkySports ahead of the game Rodgers said:

“Craig took a bad knock in the week, a mix between his knee and his hip.

“Credit to him for carrying on on Thursday”

Scott Bain comes in for the injured goalkeeper. The Celtic number 2 played recently in Celtic’s 3-0 win over Hearts in the semi-final of the League Cup.

It’s another for Bain to impress and stake his claim for a first team spot.

Brendan Rodgers would have also taken into account the artificial surface at the Tony Macaroni stadium and completely ruled out risking Craig at all.

Filip Benkovic is on the bench for a similar reason with the defender managing a calf injury on a week to week basis.
