BRENDAN RODGERS has confirmed he has more problems at right back this week with Anthony Ralston twisting his ankle at the end of Celtic’s win over Airdrie at the weekend.

The Celtic manager is currently trying to find a full time replacement for Mikael Lustig, Ralston injury worry is an unwelcome but timely reminder of how thin a line this squad is treading at the moment.

Lustig was on the bench for the Airdrie game and could come back in to right back if Ralston doesn’t make it.

Celtic take on St Mirren on Wednesday night as the games come thick and fast after the winter break. Celtic will have weekend and midweek games all the way up until March and must be prepared for the hectic schedule.

Ralston has shown potential but at this point, Rodgers wants to see real competition in that area of the field. Lustig’s contract is up in the summer and he could be leaving to head back to Sweden should Celtic fail to offer him a new deal.

  1. This becoming a bloody joke lustig certainly isn’t answer if hoops wanna win this title we certainly don’t need this pre contract agreement pish either no good doing this we need defenders in noo.stop messing about Celtic. Get it sorted asap

  2. Ahhhhhh, what a load of BALL’S. I bet Nir Bitton gets to fill that place. A natual midfielder he is. But like Kieran Tierney, Effe Ambrozia and countless others. He is to be played at the back. When pocket’s become long and arms short. But unlike KT very few can make it playing there. Why not use a left back????? As shi7 happens Brendan, what ever happened tae ‘No excuses’ dogma. Some people have very short memories. Are the Celtic suit’s goldfish now. Awwwwwwwww get tae feck.
