BRENDAN RODGERS has confirmed he will hold signing talks with a Celtic January transfer target after seeing his side lift the League Cup.

Before the game, the manager spoke of what he would be doing regardless of the result and asked if the players would get any time off to celebrate.

The answer was no. The Irishman reflected on celebrating in a prior and then finding themselves with a hold to dig out of in their following SPFL game against Motherwell which eventually ended 4-3 to the bhoys.

There will be no let up for the boss either though as he confirms talks are underway to strengthen his team in January.

“So I know that after the game on Sunday, I’ll be flying out to speak to a player on Monday, so there won’t be any big celebration whatever it is, or not, whatever way it is.

“We have to get to work the next day.”

This will please many Celtic fans who are desperate to see Celtic bring in new players from a position of strength and build on what we already have.

The board have failed to get the players the manager wanted last January and in the summer so it’s a big window for the club if they want to progress.
