BRENDAN RODGERS has given Celtic fans somewhat of a boost after The Bhoys woeful performance in Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon.
The Irishman had a makeshift side as he took on Neil Lennon’s Hibernian who were right up for it from the off.
The pairing of Brown and Ntcham was back due to player injuries and it was very telling as Celtic reverted to their old selves pre-Murrayfield Semi-Final vs Hearts.
Without Christie and Rogic, the team looked less dynamic and unable to cope with Hibernian who played well for the victory.
It was thought when Ryan went down against Salzburg it could have been a fracture but Rodgers has told BBC Scotland the player has responded well since Thursday, there is no fracture and he could even be in contention for a start in Celtic’s midweek game against Motherwell at Celtic Park.
“It’s not as bad as what we first thought,” Rodgers told BBC Sportsound.
“When he had the scan after the game, we had good news on that.
“He’s now full weight bearing. He’s able to get his foot on the floor so you never know. You never know for midweek or next weekend.
“It was a sore one. At the time, he had to come off because he couldn’t put his weight on it.”
Great news, especially after watching Celtic play badly against Hibs.
It is high time that Scott Bain was given a proper run in goal.
Flashy camera saves from Craig Gordon do not fool me and a good number of such saves have to be made because he has not weighed up attacking situations properly. Often the defence and Gordon seem not to be acting in tandem.
Scott Bain covers angles much better, reads the game better, comes confidently for crosses and gives more confidence to the defence and he also has much superior distribution skills. I for one, feel much happier when he is in goal. IMHO Bain should be number 1.
Couldn’t agree more half the game the ball being passed back to kamlkaze Gordon this type of play is an outrage and just ain’t the CELTIC WAY.It will be interesting to see how the Hibees play against Sevco on Wednesday .
