BRENDAN RODGERS spoke about Neil Lennon’s departure today and made it clear it was absolutely critical a sporting director was put in place at the club.
The former Celtic manager is clearly speaking from experience when he says the manager should be allowed to have a sporting director who goes out and gets players the manager wants.
Rodgers didn’t have as much autonomy as he wanted at Celtic. He and Peter Lawwell would clash and not long before he left for Leicester Brendan made it clear he had nothing to do with Marian Shved coming into the club. He also never played
Marvin Compper, a sign that he didn’t ask for the player in the first place.
It is 'critical' for Celtic to appoint a Director of Football, according to Brendan Rodgers.
The former Celtic boss explained how the relationship between a new manager and DoF would work around player recruitment.

Celtic are interviewing for a Sporting director already and hope to have someone in place for the end of the season. Dominic McKay will start in July officially and by then, we should no who the man in charge is going to be.
Yes one more mouth at the Celtic table, to say NO THERE’S NO MONEY LEFT. And one more mouth, means the food has to be shared further. That doesn’t mean, one person goes hungry. They all do. Ain’t reality a cun7.
