When asked about the possibility of Steven Gerrard joining Celtic, Brendan Rodgers did not rule out a move for his former Liverpool captain.
The Irishman would not be drawn into any type of speculation but the fans who would like to see the 36-year-old come in will see this as the Celtic boss not ruling it out.
“I never speculate on what players may or may not be coming but he is a great player”
This comment is in contrast to what he said about the ridiculous Schweinsteiger rumours at the start of the season where he flat out said that there was no chance of that happening.
With Gerrard officially leaving LA Galaxy yesterday it also would be within the manager’s jurisdiction to speak about a player that has no ties to any other club to give us a definitive one way or another.
This story has gathered pace over the last week but still nothing concrete from either side. The managers comments can be taken either way at this point and you just never know in football, but it seems like a long shot.
