Brendan Rodgers jumped into his first ever huddle yesterday during a time of shock and disappointment for the Celtic Faithful. Personally, I think this was a cunning move, very well thought out and a move that made sure the last thing Celtic players heard walking off the pitch was the sound of Celtic fan support.

On reflection, it reminds me of a Glasgow Derby defeat in 2004 when a defiant Martin O Neill took Neil Lennon under his arm and paraded him to the Celtic Support at Ibrox. That was a moment that left an iconic image and probably portrays an underlying theme of Celtic Football Club and its history.

It’s easy to have each other’s backs when everything is going your way, the real test comes on days like yesterday, Celtic experienced some shock and awe from a remarkable Hearts side. Brendan Rodgers huddle ensured everyone remained together leaving Edinburgh. The truth is that yesterday’s loss has been coming in the last few weeks, the manner of the loss is something entirely different.

All Celtic fans already know the intelligence of Brendan Rodgers, in 18 months he has won the four domestic trophies available to him and qualified for the Champions League twice. But it was his small gesture yesterday that shows, even more, depth to the man.

  2. Great move by Brendan. Now time to move on, secure maximum points to the end of the year, regroup making defence a priority and come back as a strengthened unit. HH
