Brendan Rodgers has hit back at suggestions that Celtic are in crisis, insisting the squad is finding its rhythm despite early-season challenges.
Celtic’s exit from the Champions League qualifiers has fuelled discontent among supporters, with criticism also aimed at the board over a perceived lack of decisive transfer backing. Despite this, Rodgers believes the focus should remain on the positives, particularly the team’s domestic form.
The Irishman has seen new signings gradually integrated into his system, with performances still short of peak levels. He argues that this period of adaptation is natural and will pay off as the season progresses.
Rodgers also emphasised the unity within the squad and the role of the supporters in driving the team forward, highlighting the atmosphere at the weekend as evidence of encouragement rather than division.
He said: (TCW), “I see this noise around about Celtic being in crisis, but it absolutely is not. The team is coming together again.
“Domestically, if you look at how we started the season, we’re not at our best, of course, we’re not. Everything that is happening right now is all natural with the changes that we’ve had, with players adapting and coming in late into our structure.
“Whilst that is happening, our duty and our idea is to still win games, and the players are doing that. You see the togetherness, and ultimately, you want that within every sector of the club. I think that’s what the supporters won’t forget – they’re there to support the team and give that encouragement to the team.
“I think you sensed that at the end of the game.”
Rodgers’ words directly push back against rumours of unrest at Celtic. He admitted there are challenges but said they are part of the normal process of new players settling in, not signs of a deeper problem.
The Irishman is focused on building domestic momentum, with Celtic unbeaten in the Premiership and still in a strong position in the Premiership. For Rodgers, the results on the pitch will silence any doubts.
He also reminded supporters that their backing is vital during this period of change. Rodgers believes the players are showing the right togetherness, even if performances have not yet reached their peak.
With tough games coming up, his message is firm: there is no crisis, and unity between the squad, staff and fans will be vital in helping Celtic improve as the season goes on.
