Brendan Rodgers made his feelings crystal clear after watching his side’s hapless attempt to defend Dundee’s third goal. You didn’t need to be a lip-reading expert to catch his reaction—his expletive-laden assessment summed up a dismal defensive moment for the league leaders.
Dundee twice clawed their way back at Dens Park before snatching a late lead through Aaron Donnelly’s header. Tony Docherty’s side showed no fear despite Luke McCowan opening the scoring after just five minutes with a towering header against his former club. The hosts struck back when Oluwaseun Adewumi curled home a superb equaliser after a rapid counterattack, ensuring the sides went in level at halftime.
Celtic regained the lead early in the second half when Yang nodded home from close range, but the Dark Blues wasted no time responding. Josh Mulligan’s cross deflected off Cameron Carter-Vickers and into the net, leaving Kasper Schmeichel stranded. From there, Celtic looked shaken, and Dundee sensed blood. When Donnelly rose highest from a corner to nod in with just under 15 minutes to play, it felt like a deserved moment for the home side.

Auston Trusty endured a nightmare evening, struggling. The American was outmuscled and outjumped by Donnelly, who powered in a simple header while Trusty barely made it off the ground. Moments later, the cameras cut to Rodgers, who could be seen mouthing “weak as p***” in frustration—a brutally honest reflection of his team’s frailty and perhaps something echoed by the fans watching from the stands and at home.
It looked like Celtic’s long unbeaten record at Dens Park was finally about to fall after 37 years. But in the dying moments Mohamed Sylla’s outstretched arm blocked Kuhn’s shot inside the box resulted in a clear penalty, and Arne Engels kept his cool from the spot to rescue a point for the champions.
A performance full of defensive mishaps and shaky moments will leave Rodgers with plenty to stew over despite avoiding defeat. This is a team that’s lacking and edge due to how far ahead they are in the league. Rodgers needs to shake that out of them.
We need a centre half.
Strikers like ahdi bernardo and others took there chances to many poor misses if they can’t handle pressure of their price tag or ref not giving them fouls shouldn’t be there our club and players have been treated this way since I remember I seen John greig break lennox leg no foul no penalty no red card yes I’ve seen worse tackles go unpunished just get up and take as an honour that they want you out the game if you can’t do that your in wrong club I see to many Celtic players head drop when they know ref isn’t going to protect them our two centre half’s were given ruff stuff yet idha was pulled up every nudge of there defenders I feel sorry for idah he’s not Sutton hartson mould he’s a speeder not a hold up player but I’m sure our coaches are trying to change that it takes time Rodgers and his team will sort it out has to go in where it hurts he pulls out of a challenge with goalkeeper why goalkeeper knows the dangers bernardos header bowed his a fraction early but some move same with his other chance with that many player back in the area unlucky but header was celebrating for ge headed the ball but they were great moves same as first goal alright wonder goal for dundee first again passes deflected onto opposition could have went anywhere second halve dundee kept ball inthe air cancelling our midfield facing there own goal hus done the same so we have to change yes desperate to sort left side out the atmre all making individual mistake
Obvious that there are some players who at the moment are luxuries we really can’t afford.
Idah,Yang ,Trusty and Bernardo to name a few . The one for me who has been reported gone missing for weeks now is Calmac.
He is avoiding any flak because he’s been a great servant and is captain. He really needs to get the finger out and start performing again or else he should be taken out of the firing line until he gets his form back.
Celtic are going to have to start learning from previous counter attacks goals from us having a corner, it’s happened on quite a few occasions in the past, we have nearly every player up in the Dundee half for our corner, like previous games we have a man sitting on the halfway line, maybe another not far away, but when we lose possession from the corner a long line up park finds their player, whose got pace and easily gets by our player, and 17 seconds after us taking the corner the balls in our net.
What’s with our defencive frailties from set pieces like us having a corner, we have got to start learning and start real fast.
We have got to make sure we have ample cover at the back from these corners, a lit of them are short corners, that then defies the logic of having all our big boys up in their box..sheer lunacy and we will continue to suffer every so often.
Last night was as bad as the game at ibrox, were were absolutely shocking, dismal performances from most of the team.
Another thing we’ve got to learn from as well, when we’ve got possession in our back third of the pitch, kasper Schmeichel is usually positioned halfway between our 18 yard line and halfway line, that’s madness and all it’s going to take is a slack pass and a player to take a ling punt towards an empty box never mind empty goal line.
He’s going to have to stay nearer his box than the halfway line, yes we play with a high pressing, but having our keeper so far away from his own box never mind his goal line is nothing but stupid, bravado that makes him and us rather big headed and sending out a message of go on try and beat me from distance..lunacy at its best and worse.
