BRENDAN RODGERS has given us a major update on three key players in his squad signing new deals in the coming weeks.

After Scott Brown’s admission midweek about being in talks with the club the Irishman confirmed this and expects a deal to get over the line soon.

“Scott’s made it clear he wants to be here and I’m sure there will be a deal done sooner on that – he’s quite relaxed about it.”

“He knows what we think of him here at the club so hopefully that will get done.”

The same was said for Leigh Griffiths with the Celtic manager saying all sings are pointing to the 28-year-old signing a new deal with the club.

“We’re pretty close on Leigh, he clearly wants to be here, we want him to be here.” Rodgers admitted.

“We think that’s not far away.

On James Forrest the Celtic gaffer was less specific and didn’t give a timeframe for when James would be likely to sign a new deal.

The midfielder can start talking to clubs in three months time if the club doesn’t sign him up before then.

Rodgers seems relaxed on the issue and is hoping James will sign a new deal because he rates the winger very highly.

“James and his people I know will be speaking with the club and likewise, a player we’d love to extend here.

“He’s been absolutely brilliant in my time here.

The Celtic manager has been preparing his squad for their Friday night clash with St Mirren in Paisley and seems relaxed and prepared for the next three months of the season where he could potentially pick up another trophy and hopefully qualify for the Europa League knockout stages.
