Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed the inspired team talk he gave his Celtic players against Bayern Munich at the Allianz.
With Rodgers returning to the club in 2023, he has won three out of four domestic trophies, and tonight, Celtic delivered a performance that is arguably the best of Rodgers’ tenure as Celtic boss over his two spells, in Munich.

For Rodgers, Europe was where he would ultimately be judged in his second spell, and this season in the Champions League, the Hoops have been sensational. However, tonight was at a level that every Celtic supporter could only have dreamed of.
Celtic supporters will be desperate to see Rodgers sign a new contract over the next year, as his current deal expires in the summer of 2026. Tonight’s 1-1 draw at the Allianz is undoubtedly a signal of the progress the team has made under him in 18 months in charge.
With Rodgers emphasising how games like tonight were exactly why he returned to Celtic when speaking post-match.
When asked ‘And what did you say to the players in the dressing room tonight?’
He said: (Amazon Prime Video Sport),”Well, I said that I came back here to make progress in Europe. And if I judge that myself on tonight, then they’ve given me everything.
“So now our job is to learn from that, learn from the experiences we’ve had this season and finish off our season really well.
“Get back into the Champions League next season and let’s see if we can improve again.”
It’s inspiring to hear what Rodgers said to the players. Nights like tonight were made for the Irishman in charge of Celtic. The ability to be defensively strong while maintaining the attacking flair the Hoops possess domestically showcased the best of both worlds.
Rodgers is well and truly back in full swing. If he wasn’t already, a draw would have been a pipe dream to some ahead of the game, with even a number of people concerned that it could be a hammering in Munich. However, the Hoops flipped the game on its head, consistently pressing and harrying Bayern.
The opportunity is there in the summer to back Rodgers in the transfer market and take Celtic to the next level in Europe, with the possibility of a place in the last 16 of the Champions League next season a real prospect, given the European campaign this season, culminating with a sensational performance in Munich.
