BRENDAN RODGERS seems to be bracing Celtic fans for more departures this summer speaking from the club’s training camp in Austria.

The level headed Irishman was asked about Ryan Christie and Scott Allan’s situation as they both get put through their pre-season paces.

The manager did little to suggest that either of them are in his first team plans at the minute and more than hinted that at least one of them being moved on if they don’t make a big impression in the next few weeks.

Not only that but if he can’t guarantee them game time the player’s themselves will want to seek another opportunity.

“The two boys have come back and my duty to them is to make sure they are at their highest level fitness wise.

“Then we’ll see over the course of the pre-season. Both players have looked very good.

“When I look at Ryan’s situation, it was to get him out and get him stronger. The Aberdeen loan was perfect for him.

“It’s partly where these boys see themselves as well.

“I might want to keep them but if I can’t give them as many games as they want it’s difficult.

“But both boys have come back looking strong and looking fit and have done very well.”

Allan spoke of making a permanent move to Hibernian this summer but that is yet to materialise.

While Ryan Christie has spoke of his determination to finally make his Celtic breakthrough. It’s going to be tough!

  1. I haven’t seen any of the pre-season games but you can’t usually tell much from friendlies any way but I really feel for Christie. Clearly Rodgers does not fancy him despite him performing at Aberdeen and wanting to make it at Celtic. He needs a chance . A run of games. Let him go and it would take 3-5 million to replace him. He will make an impact given a chance. But looks like it won’t happen. The player must be gutted.

  2. Fully agree Johnny. Is it a personality clash with one or both because I don’t feel that they have been given a Fair shake at Celtic Park.

  3. I am not sure who we would drop to get either of these guys in the team. They are good players but competition at Celtic is fierce!

  4. Some like Sinclair are lauded, but other far far better players are not given a chance, the way Roberts was treated at season end and in the cup final was a disgrace, coaching skills 9/10 but man management skills 2/10.
