BRENDAN RODGERS has hit back at people who believe Jack Hendry isn’t good enough and hasn’t got enough experience to play regularly for Celtic.

The 23-year-old has struggled with the step up from Dundee and is only now enjoying a run of games because of suspensions, injury and the Boyata situation.

Fans have been making the point that Jack is far from the finished article but the Irishman lept to the defence of his defender after the Hearts game at the weekend.

Hendry has yet to be on the field for a Celtic domestic win – starting in eight games the team have either lost or drawn domestically. The one game Celtic did win when Jack started, he was replaced at half time.

At the age of 23, there’s certainly scope for improvement and that’s what the manager is getting at. However, having to rely on a player who hasn’t got a large amount of experience to get you to the Champions League is a dangerous game.

  1. I think the manager is right to say this and I also think that Hendry is a talented young player despite what a lot of Celtic fans are saying…it is going to be a baptism of fire in Greece though and hope he rises to meet this and we get through. It will be fascinating to watch.

  2. I think the manager is correct to say this and I also think Hendry is a decent player who will get better with experience although this game will be a tough ask for him. However it wouldn’t surprise me if he had a really good game which will be needed tomorrow night.
