BRENDAN RODGERS says there’s no running from the fact Celtic have the biggest wage bill in the league and should be doing miles better than what they’re currently doing.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s game against St Johnstone the Celtic manager was not shying away from the club’s poor start.

Celtic have only secured one point out of a possible nine of the road so far and have only scored 6 goals in the first six SPFL games.

Their creativity has gone and the goals have dried up, it’s now up to the manager to find the best way to get the bhoys firing again.

While Celtic are striving to get better and fast the Irishman also conceded that no matter what they do it will be hard to live up to his first season in charge.

Celtic’s annual results revealed the club have a £59million wage bill. This won’t just be the squad but the club as a whole but it’s still the highest in the league.

When asked about the massive wage bill Rodgers was clear:

‘Listen, we can’t run away from it,’

‘If you are paying good wages and you’ve got the squad you will be expected to do something. You are expected to win.

‘That’s the job of the Celtic manager – and in particular, since I’ve come in these last few years.

‘It doesn’t always equate in terms of what we did in our first season.

‘Teams will always look to get closer to you. But you always have to focus on yourself and push forward.’
