BRENDAN RODGERS will have to make a monumental decision ahead of Celtic’s home tie against Zenit on Thursday.

After Jozo Simunovic and the Celtic defence as a whole looking shaky against Partick Thistle, does the manager still go with the Bosnian in defence or does he play new bhoy Jack Hendry?

Hendry only has one Celtic game under his belt where the team lost 1-0 to a dogged Kilmarnock side. The Scot was cup tied for the Partick Thistle game but could now take centre stage if Rodgers believes Jozo is not up to the task.

Dedryk Boyata is out for the next few weeks and he would have been Brendan’s natural choice to go alongside Ajer. If the Irishman chooses to play Hendry, then Celtic will try and keep Zenit out with a very young centre back pairing.

If Rodgers believes experience is the key here, Hendry will settle for a place on the bench and hope Jozo has got all the mistakes out of him for Thursday.

Both decisions could look inspired if they work out, a calamity by either would be a massive talking point coming out of the game.

The manager sees both on the training ground and will know himself who is most up for the task.
