BRENDAN RODGERS has spoken about the need for Celtic fans to be patient as the club tries to pursue quality targets.

However, the manager is well aware of a game changer for Celtic this summer with regards to the window and that is the Premier League.

Last season, the Premier League voted to close their transfer window August 9 at 5pm.

This means that English clubs, including those in the Football League will be unable to make any more signings after that date until the January window.

Celtic would then be in a market without stiff competition from their mega-rich neighbours when it comes to signing players. The club would not face a challenge from anyone south of the border after that date for any of their targets.

What’s more is, while the Premier and Football League can no longer sign players, they’re still free to sell players to foreign clubs until the usual deadline on August 31.

This could open the door for a marquee loan signing for a Premier League club with a surplus.

The window should really heat up for Celtic when the English deadline passes.

Celtic once famously landed Robbie Keane on-loan when the Premier League window closed at 5pm on deadline day where Scotland was still open for business until midnight.

If they can work a deal like that in 7 hours, then you would hope they have their sights high for any potential signings from August 9 onwards.

It certainly could be very interesting.
