PARISUNITED.net have claimed Brendan Rodgers made a promise to Osdonne Edouard that he would take the Frenchman to Arsenal with him if he succeeded Arsene Wenger.

The site that boasts a large following regularly reports on everything PSG and has posted the news of Edouard’s imminent deal to join Celtic on a permanent basis.

However, they took the opportunity to comment on Arsenal talk which looks largely unfounded seeing as Rodgers was never part of any discussion to take over at the Emirates.

Loosely translated, here is what they said.

Brendan Rodgers, the Celtics coach highly appreciates #Edouard. In contact with Arsenal, before the appointment of Unai #Emery, he told him that he would take it with him if he signed with the Gunners.

There is no doubt Rodgers is a huge admirer of Eddie, to the point he’s willing to break the bank to get the striker on a full time basis.

This seems like needless and unfounded speculation and rather bizarre.

Edouard and Celtic are set to conclude a deal in London, funnily enough, that will see the striker become Celtic’s most expensive signing.
